Asbestos Surveys
Asbestos related diseases currently kill up to 3,000 people a year in the UK, with this number rising over the next 10 years.
Employers already have a legal duty to minimize risk of exposure to asbestos to their employees. Amendments to the Control of Asbestos at Work Regulations will place an implicit duty on those responsible for non-domestic premises to manage these risks.
Those responsible will include:-
- Property Owners
- Maintenance Managers
- Managers of Property
- Facilities Managers
The risk of exposure to asbestos is potentially significant for all those involved in demolition, construction, refurbishment and maintenance. Occupation of buildings containing asbestos in poor quality also carries risks.
The range of services include:
- Independent Impartial Advice
- Asbestos Management
- Management Surveys
- Refurbishment and Demolition Surveys
- Risk Management Assessments
MLM Environmental undertake asbestos surveys for residential and business premises including industrial facilities. All MLM Environmental asbestos surveyors have been trained by the British Institute of Occupational Hygiene – P402 ‘Building Surveys and Bulk Sampling for Asbestos’ and have undergone quantitative face fit testing for their respiratory equipment. Where elevated access is required, MLM Environmental surveyors have been trained in the use of elevated work platforms and hold IPAF powered access licences. Surveys are carried out in accordance with the approved codes of practice with surveyors working in two man teams.
The identification of asbestos risks within work place premises and the production of a management plan by MLM Environmental will not only ensure compliance with the CAW Regulations but will enable accurate budgeting of future works, maintenance, refurbishment and demolition.
