Air Quality Assessments
MLM can now assist developers even further in their planning applications by providing air quality assessments in accordance with the guidelines published by the National Society for Clean Air and Environmental Protection.
MLM now have the staff with the experience to undertake air quality assessment as part of planning application for developments. The Planning Policy Statement 23, relating to Planning and Pollution Control requires the Local Planning Authority to consider applications for developments in relation air quality for cases where the proposed development is in an of poor air quality or where it may affect the existing air quality.
The air quality assessment is undertaken in stages. Initially a ‘Screening Method’ is used to assess whether an air quality problem exists. If a problem exists, then in the second stage, a local dispersion model is used to calculate pollution concentration within the proposed development. The assessment will then consider the likely effectiveness of any pollution reducing or mitigation measures that can be included as part of the development.
The range of services include:
- Scoping and Baseline Surveys
- Air Quality Impact Assessments
