X-Ray Department, West Suffolk Hospital

- Client: West Suffolk Hospital, NHS Trust
- Architect: KLH Architects
- Market Sector: Healthcare
- Services: Building Services
West Suffolk Hospital undertook an extensive refurbishment of the x-ray and nuclear medicine departments at the Hardwick Lane site in Bury St Edmunds.
Previously, the departments were fragmented, and the scheme integrated offices and administration areas with their associated clinical areas. The Accident and Emergency Department was provided with an extension building, housing new x-ray equipment and associated viewing offices, providing 24 hour x-ray facilities.
A new CT scanner was installed to the prepared rooms, improving diagnostic facilities within an environment that is more comfortable for staff and patients.
The internal environment has been enhanced with new lighting installations, improved fresh air supply facilities and local comfort cooling to patient waiting areas. Telephones, data and fire alarm systems have been replaced with the facility for future expansion, including a new clinical intercom system.
