Waterbeach

Woodberry Down, Hackney

MLM have undertaken engineering, permitting, risk assessments and CQA on these 4.5m³ landfills since 2001. Work has included investigations, re-engineering and reclamation of old landfills, permit amalgamation, new cell construction, landfill extensions, design of containment sheet piled walls and full construction supervision and CQA of all aspects of construction.

The site is complicated by different ages of landfilling including old dilute and disperse cells in former sand and gravel pits. Reclamation of all dilute and disperse landfills including gas protection and groundwater cut-off are being undertaken to reduce risks and facilitate redevelopment of parts of the site and to protect groundwater, surface water and the general environment.
