The Dartford Bridge Learning and Community Campus, Dartford, Kent

- Client: KCC
- Architect: Hazel McCormack Young
- Market Sector: Education
- Services: Building Control
This new build, multi purpose community building is part of an early phase of ‘The Bridge’ re-generation project in Dartford, Kent.
The Bridge is a 264 acre mixed use regeneration project next to the QEII Bridge on the River Thames. The Community Campus building includes a primary school, nursery, library services, youth centre, (specialising in music and art), health consulting and meeting spaces, as well as areas for the police and voluntary organisations to utilise.
MLM Building Control provided valuable assistance with the holistic fire strategy for the building, particularly relating to compartmentation issues and advice on the staged completion phasing of the works, ensuring that necessary fire precautions were adequate. Expertise in dealing with Access and Facilities for Disabled People also proved to be useful, including technical knowledge of the Disability Discrimination Act and Kent Design Guide to ensure appropriate solutions to the relevant uses.
