MLM were appointed to carry out a principal inspection of the high 3 span masonry arch structure on Spring Road in Ipswich and provide GRIP Stage 4 and 5 designs for masonry, waterproofing and drainage repairs.
The inspection was carried out from a mobile platform, under prearranged lane closures, including inspection of the abutments, piers, arch rings, spandrels, parapets and drainage. Our inspection also incorporated an inspection from trackside under a Network Rail Possession, to inspect the parapets, and to confirm the presence of waterproofing and depth of ballast.
Following our inspection we produced Form A and Form B designs utilising Network Rail standard masonry repair details, all on time and to budget.
