Selhurst Station Platform Refurbishment, London

- Client: Osborne Rail
- Architect: -
- Market Sector: Rail
- Categories: Platforms & Stations, Temporary Works & Surveys
- Services: Civil Engineering
MLM were commissioned by Osborne Rail to provide GRIP Stages 4 and 5 design services for the platform refurbishment at Selhurst undertaken as part of the Network Rail Operational Property Framework South.
MLM directed the site investigations, including topographical surveying, platform gauge surveying and existing drainage system CCTV surveying on-site. Structural and condition inspections were also undertaken on-site directly by MLM and reports provided. MLM collated the information from these investigative works and used it in the design and subsequent Form A and B submissions at GRIP Stages 4 and 5.
MLM designed and detailed platform riser wall repairs, platform regauging details, substantial modifications and extensions to the existing drainage system and repaving and profiling of Platforms 1, 2 and 3. Platforms 1, 2 and 3 are of traditional front wall construction. Platform 4 comprised a modular steel and concrete system; MLM inspected the structure and detailed repairs. The limited existing drainage system was also substantially extended to provide positive drainage to all areas of Platform 1, 2 and 3. A microdrainage model was developed in order to fine-tune and maximise the efficiency of the drainage design.
