Retaining Wall Inspection, Drayton Park, London

- Services: Civil Engineering
MLM were commissioned by Kier London to undertake a condition inspection of Drayton Park retaining wall in London. The retaining wall formed the boundary between a Kier construction site and land owned by Network Rail. Network Rail required a condition inspection of the retaining wall prior to the commencement of construction works on the Kier site, thus making it possible for Network Rail to ascertain whether the construction works have a negative effect on the wall upon completion.
The retaining wall is approximately 9m high by 125m total length and is of mass concrete construction, working structurally as a gravity retaining wall. MLM appointed a sub-contractor to provide specialist access equipment. MLM prepared a Works Package Plan in conjunction with the sub-contractor and successfully carried out the inspection of the retaining wall, including production of a Condition Report.
In conjunction with this remit, MLM have provided extensive Outside Parties Engineer liaison on behalf of Kier London, including assisting with the BAPA, producing Form C designs, providing CAT III checking and facilitating method statement submission and approval.
