The project involved a pair of semi-detached houses. The proposed development was to provide at least a 20% carbon dioxide reduction from on site renewable energy technology and also to achieve Code for Sustainable Homes Level 3.
MLM provided a report to identify and summarise the main renewable energy options considered for the project along with conclusions and recommendations. The report provided information on the estimated and total predicted CO2 emissions for the building and details of the various options available to reduce that figure, all of which were based on SAP calculations undertaken by MLM.
This report was based around two main processes: firstly to establish the building’s base anticipated CO2 emissions, and secondly to demonstrate the saving in CO2 achievable by the incorporation of renewable technologies.
The project was required to achieve Code Level 3. A 20% reduction in CO2 emissions attributable to renewables was required.
