The new two-storey hospital will replace existing Victorian and Edwardian buildings. Work is expected to begin early in 2007 and complete in September 2008.
The hospital provides 60 stroke, re-enablement and intermediate care beds, a minor injuries unit, imaging facilities, outpatient facilities and a re-enablement suite.
Facilities at the new hospital will include a rehabilitation unit, a minor injury and illness centre, an out-of-hours service, a small maternity unit and a range of outpatient facilities. The hospital will form part of a wider development programme for the local area, which will include new roads and housing. Work recently started on the site and completion of the new hospital is expected by September 2008.
