The Minories Hotel in the City of London is a new build 258-bedroom hotel comprising two blocks, the tallest block rising to 18 storeys.
The taller block is clad in highly insulated clear and coloured glass, to distinctively define the skyline. The lower block utilises a rainscreen cladding system manufactured from solid surface material, the first of its type in the UK, with LED backlighting, producing a gentle glow at night.
The design has achieved BREEAM Excellent with the inclusion of a heat recovery system, highly thermal efficient facades, a green roof and wall.
A close working relationship between the architect, fire engineer and MLM enabled this building to be designed as a single stair building, with extended travel distances to corridors, allowing additional bedroom space. Our excellent working relationships with London Fire Brigade made a significant difference to the success of the fire strategy.
