The project involves a new 15,400 sq.m. mail centre to serve Kent, located on a 5.4 hectare site at the edge of Strood town centre which will process over 3 million mail items per day.
The Construction process will consist of the demolition of an old warehouse slab before R.C bases are put in place for the housing of the steel structure for the Mail Centre.
The Mail Centre will incorporate solar walls, rainwater harvesting, bio-mass boilers and solar hot water heating.
MLM worked closely with the Architect and Fire Brigade from an early stage in order to ensure that the Fire Engineered solutions to excessive travel distances, Fire Brigade access and smoke clearance were acceptable.
