MLM has carried out Principal inspections and assessments of a 1950s partially prestressed beam bridge deck and wrought iron support trestle.
The Assessments involve simple and rigorous methods of analysis to current standards and the Codes of Practice current at the time of construction, incorporating consideration of the loss of prestressing strands caused by “arcing” from the overhead electrified lines.
Following our assessments we have produced various feasibility schemes for Network Rail’s consideration culminating in the production of Approval in Principle - Form A documentation and drawings. The projects includes the design of a prestressed concrete beam infill deck, wrought iron trestle repairs, vehicle barriers, carriageway realignment, new bearings and utility diversions.
MLM are currently commissioned to carry out the detailed design of the chosen part deck replacement scheme during 2006 in preparation for construction in 2007.
