Ipswich Town Football Club’s striking new South Stand was completed for the 2001 football season. The new stand comprises two tiers of spectator seating which projects over and to the rear of the existing South Stand. It creates an additional 4500 seats for the Club and two floor levels for members and hospitality facilities.
Main Features:
- 11 metre cantilever supports upper seating tier and projects over existing stand detailed analysis was necessary to ensure vibration of the steel was limited to acceptable values.
- 70 metre clear span ‘goal post’ structure supports roof and floodlights.
- Transparent roof maximises sunlight onto pitch.
- 2 levels of membership and hospitality facilities enjoying views of the pitch.
- Full use of existing South Stand has been maintained during the construction work and 2500 seats are to be released to spectators part way through the contract.
