A major extension to an imposing Victorian School building providing 18 new classrooms in two blocks attached to the existing building and an administrative block. Also included are alterations to the existing Victorian Infant school building and associated external works.
Key Features:
- The Architectural design successfully and sympathetically joins a modern school building to the existing Victorian structure. The structural for the two new extension blocks has been designed in reinforced concrete. As well as achieving large open spans, the flat slab design facilitates services distribution and minimise the depth of the structure to allow floor levels to tie up with the existing building.
- The new extension blocks have piled foundations and the external works adopt the principles of sustainable urban drainage systems by incorporating porous paving and infiltration techniques to limit any additional rainwater discharge to the public system.
