MLM were appointed to provide the structural engineering design of two buildings to expand the existing office and chandlery facilities at the marina.
The Chandlery is of portal frame construction although the design incorporates a large mezzanine floor for display purposes and large feature windows for the view across the marina over to the river.
The office is of two storey masonry construction with horizontal Eternit boarding to give the building a nautical feel in keeping with the marina environment.
Key Features:
- Due to the riverside location the ground conditions were poor but by incorporating vibro-ground improvement techniques the foundations costs were able to be minimised and the cost of piled foundations were avoided.
