Problems with waterlogged track beds and standing water on the tracks at Bishops Stortford Station had resulted in speed restrictions being placed on the line. MLM undertook a GRIP Stage 2 pre-feasibility inspection and report to investigate the causes of these problems, including carrying out an Ecology Assessment.
The defects found to the track drainage included overgrown and silted outfalls from the system, heavily silted drainage pipes and catch-pits and uncontrolled water discharges into the system from outside the site. Following the report, a programme of CCTV and water jetting was carried out to the drain to further investigate and improve their condition.
