6th Form Centre, Woodbridge School

- Client: The Seckford Foundation
- Architect: Rees Pryer Architects
- Market Sector: Education
- Categories: Further Education
- Services: Building Services
As part of a phased redevelopment, a new building has been constructed to replace the existing 6th Form Centre and teaching blocks. Located adjacent to a listed building, the intent was to deliver a ‘low energy’ building.
Following detailed thermal modelling, an active ventilation system was provided with fresh air rates varied to react to internal temperature and air quality conditions. Underfloor heating is provided throughout with air source heat pumps as the ‘low carbon’ heat source. At the time of commissioning this was the largest system of it’s type in the UK.
Solar panels have been installed, providing domestic hot water with minimal energy input. Automatic lighting controls react to occupancy and are linked to natural daylight levels. L.E.D lighting provides feature lighting to the central staircase.
Key Features:
- Active ventilation systems.
- Solar hot water.
- Air source heat pumps.
- Intelligent lighting controls.
- L.E.D Feature lighting to staircase.
