This was a long term project split over two phases to create a mixed use development. The project commenced in 2008 and the final completion of Phase 2 is expected to be in 2012. Phase 1 of the redevelopment includes a state-of-the-art 2,500sqm Out Patients’ Department for the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital together with 26 private flats and 14 affordable flats. The project phasing has enabled the existing Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital on Bolsover Street to remain fully operational whilst the new medical facility is being constructed on the southern half of the site. MLM are working closely with the team to ensure phased handovers and temporary management plans are delivered on time and to the highest standards of safety. Phase 2 of the development will include the construction of 44 high quality private flats and 16 affordable flats. To maximise space potential, MLM applied it’s extensive experience and flair to help deliver a solution smoke control ventilation system to overcome extended travel distances within the corridors.
